Seminar speaker: Pasi Saukkonen

Top research strives to provide solutions to grand challenges. The University of Helsinki’s 375th anniversary year will culminate in the Science for a Better World seminar. The seminar will gather the top names in Finnish and international research as well as the most interesting speakers from the society – the common aim is to build solutions for the future wellbeing. One of the seminar themes is Global responsibility. Meet our seminar speaker Pasi Saukkonen.

Pasi Saukkonen is a political scientist, and he works as Director of the Finnish Foundation for Cultural Policy Research (Cupore) and as Senior Researcher at the City of Helsinki Urban Facts. He holds an Adjunct Professorship at the University of Helsinki (political science) and at the University of Jyväskylä (cultural policy). Saukkonen has published extensively on e.g. immigration, integration policies and multiculturalism, as well as on nationalism and national identity. In addition, he has done research on local and national cultural policies and on the third sector in culture and the arts. Saukkonen’s areas of expertise also include the history, society and political culture of the Netherlands.
