Helsinki Challenge is heading to the next stage. At the Helsinki Challenge Impact Camp 9th–10th April 2015, 20 amazing challenge teams be given a new question to solve: what is the actual impact we are aiming for with our solution? Who benefits from our solution and how? With whom and how can we reach our goals? Is this solution idea the right one to reach the desired impact, or do we need something completely different?
At the Impact Camp, various stakeholders and experts both from abroad and Finland will join the Helsinki Challenge teams. It's a unique chance for experts and stakeholders to participate in Helsinki Challenge, co-create with teams and be a part of the future of science. Meet one of them!
Ulrich Weinberg: Film industry veteran encourages companies to shift their focus from me to us
When the multidisciplinary Potsdam School of Design Thinking was founded in Germany in 2007, Ulrich Weinberg didn’t hesitate for a second. Weinberg traded his research leave in China for thousands of Post-its, as he now directs the design school that develops quality user experience design in multidisciplinary teams.
Weinberg has over 25 years of experience from the film industry, 3D modeling and animation. He has previously worked for BMW, Siemens and Daimler-Benz. Now Weinberg directs the Hasso-Platner Institute School of Design Thinking, which encourages companies to invest in cooperation and WeQ-thinking. Where traditional companies focus on measuring and rating individual operations (IQ), start-ups and design thinking emphasize the meaning of cooperation and the big picture (WeQ). Weinberg’s main message is that co-created innovations lead to best results, no matter what your field is.

Weinberg vaihtoi tutkimusvapaansa Kiinassa tuhansiin Post-it-lappuihin ja kehittää nyt parempaa suunnittelua ja innovaatioita IT-ohjelmistoista kaikille elämän eri alueille.

Nyt professori Weinberg johtaa Hasso-Plattner -instituutin School of Design Thinking -ohjelmaa, joka kannustaa firmoja panostamaan yhteistyöhön ja WeQ-ajatteluun. Siinä missä perinteiset yritykset keskittyvät yksittäisten suoritusten mittaamiseen ja arvosteluun (IQ), startup-yritykset ja design-ajattelu painottavat yhteistyön ja kokonaisuuden merkitystä (WeQ). Weinberg on tullut vakuuttamaan, kuinka yhdessä luodut innovaatiot auttavat alalla kuin alalla.
